My First Role Model

She-Ra has always been my guide and inspiration. Listen to the lyrics of the song, so true. I love her strength, compassion and beauty. She was my female role model growing up which actually helped me to have a healthy belief system in life. She also helped inspire many of my fitness routine ideas.

Finding Full Power

I am still buzzing from an amazing weekend. I have been teaching and learning and the teaching some more. I did a two-day workshop with Ashtanga Yoga Master David Swenson, in between teaching my own yoga classes. I would teach classes then go to the workshop then go teach another class. I felt like a little kid so engaged by David's story telling. It was a wonderful experience to learn so much new stuff and then implement that knowledge into my classes that I was teaching right away. I have definitely found my passion and my calling. The more I connect to yoga the more I enjoy other people.

As I reflect on my competitive career in Fitness I am disappointed in the lack of connected-ness in the sport  as I have seen and experienced it so far.  I guess after years of training on my own in a sport that doesn't really require you to focus on anything but yourself, I now really appreciate coming into a room full of people that are there to feel good, be happy, be free, to share and explore through their yoga practice. As a teacher I get to connect with so many new people and create an environment that is non-judgmental, supportive, caring, nurturing and strength building. Although I am often in a room of strangers’ especially when I am subbing a class I still feel a sense of community and family when we practice together. This is something I want to continue inviting into my life. What a gift to be able to connect to people rather than compete against them. More thoughts to come soon...

Checking in to find the purpose!

I awaken each day now with the intent to open channels of energy that strengthen my mind and free my body. I do not desire to be number #1 in the competitions I take part in. In fact I now prefer to think of these competitive events as simply a show in which I am performing. It is a subjective sport based on other peoples opinions. I do not feel I am better than anyone else, I don't feel the need to be competitive with the other athletes. It is more an opportunity to connect with other passionate people that are open to seeing beyond the prize. I am in a place where I base my training on creating a feeling of inner strength rather than focusing on the external and looking a certain way. I train with purpose, focus, clarity and intention. I am digging deep to soar high, fueling the fire and melting back down into the earth. I am loving my transformation and enjoy sharing my evolution with those who come to my classes and share their energy with me. I will be teaching 7 days a week for the next two weeks and I look forward to the experience.

Workout Clip

I'm 3 weeks out from the WBFF Show in TO. Here is a small clip of me training last weekend. I am combining my weight workouts with tons of yoga. I am practicing and teaching everyday. I need that deep connected energy created during my yoga practice to keep me centered and out of my head. I am so not a competitive person nor am I interested in being stuck in my ego and only focused on my external body. I feel my current focus now a days is way more internal yet I am balancing the fire and the water together if that makes sense.
