For the past 7 months I have been teaching boot-camp, yoga and spinning classes in Phuket, Thailand. I have worked almost everyday, motivating, supporting and encouraging others to move towards better health, happiness and well being. I love what I do so it has been an amazing journey.
I have been driven as an athlete for so many years that it can be hard
to know when to slow down and give the nervous system a break. I love teaching so much that it's easy for me to end up doing too much. My personal challenge is learning
how create space so that I can have some down time long enough to recharge my
own battery.
Two weeks ago I found myself so fatigued that I went to the hospital sure that I was sick with something. I had been suffering from chronic fatigue and was unable to even think about training. In my mind I wanted to train in every class I taught, believing I must practice what I preach. As I was encouraging my students to stay focused on their training, I felt my training was drastically slipping away. My coffee and sugar intake began to increase as my lack of personal motivation decreased. I honestly felt like I was falling apart. When the Dr. at the hospital got all my blood work back he looked at me oddly and said, “there’s nothing wrong with you, all your blood work is fine, I suggest you start exercising more”. I realized then that I was mentally exhausted and it was time to take better care of my own health and wellness. I must practice what I preach by adding a little more YIN to my YANG. Being at a fitness camp with non-stop action and training can leave you a little unbalanced if you don't take a time out once in a while.

So here I am now on day 3 of a week long detox program. I
have committed myself to a full week of no food after completing 2 days of eating only RAW
Food. I have cut myself off of
everything; meat, dairy, wheat, caffeine, sugar, absolutely everything. This is all in the hopes of getting some of my vitality back.
Today was definitely the most challenging day so far. I’ve
been adgusting to a new routine that is the opposite of what I’m used too. I’m used to eating every 2-3 hours multiple
times a day and I LOVE coffee. Today I’ve had terrible headaches
from caffeine withdrawals. All I want to do is sleep, which is probably the
best thing for me. On a high note, my skin feels great from the cleansing and
saunas.
Here’s a look at my
days schedule while detoxing
7am- a shake made of clay, silium husk and magnesium (not
the best tasting drink)
7:30-8:30- A gentle yoga practice – Yes I need that!
8:30-9:00- Check in time to become clear about Intentions (I like this part too)
9:00- Take blood pressure and weight- I weighed in at 61.9
KL on day one
9:30- Time for the colema- a coffee colema that takes about
45 min to complete. We do 2 of these per day. I'm whipped out after this
session so I go for an hour nap. I feel like a bit of a zombie coming off of
caffeine, sugar and food.
Colema Room |
10:30- another shake followed up by some apple cider tea
11:30 – Dose of supplements for cleansing
12:00- Oil massage- loved it, best part of the day
1:00- another shake
2:30pm- More supplements for cleansing
4:00pm- another shake
4:00pm- second Colema- this time its with garlic
4:30pm- Sauna
6:30pm- Movie Time or mediation also possibility of an outing to the night market.
On my second night we watched a great movie called FAT SICK AND NEARLY DEAD.
Very inspiring!
